WRITING "LETTER FROM GOD" 10
In Book 10, we follow the exciting journey of three winner
believers, Naomi, Ruth and Boaz. In Israel, their lives are a bright
spot in the dark days of the Judges.
In studying Naomi's life, we are aware of the loss of her husband
and her two sons in the land of Moab. As weed-plants of bitterness
and self-pity begin to grow in her soul, we discover the wake-up
call that pushes out the weeds and places Naomi back into God's
plan.
We are there on that dusty road from Moab when Ruth makes her
important decision not go back with her sister-in-law Orpah. Ruth
loved her mother-in-law Naomi and wanted to care for her. After
Ruth's words to Naomi, "Your God will be my God and your people will
be my people," Naomi and Ruth continue on to Naomi's hometown.
We walk with Ruth as she makes her way to the fields outside
Bethlehem to gather the grain in the barley fields for her small
family. After the barley harvest Ruth continues to glean in the
wheat fields. Now, during the winnowing of the wheat, Naomi explains
her daring plan to Ruth.
We share Ruth's excitement as she follows Naomi's strange
instructions exactly. Although this is a risky plan, Ruth does not
hesitate — but there is a serious complication!
Early the next morning, the landowner Boaz hurries into the town to
take care of the problem. A court session, held at the gate, ends
with a dramatic sandal ceremony!
Soon a happy celebration takes place in the little village of
Bethlehem. Later, in the same town, the Lord blesses Boaz and Ruth
with another special event.
It is fascinating to see how God works behind the scenes with the
"just so happened" events in the lives of these three winner
believers. We discover that Ruth the Moabitess has her place in the
family line of the promised Messiah Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ.
We take the liberty in this book to provide related stories that
show how the messages from the Old Testament fit together. In
covering the history of the Jewish race, we find there are special
promises for the Jews that God will fulfill in the future:
"The nations of the world
will see Me (2nd coming of the Lord as the King of kings) arrive in
the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And I shall send
for My angels with the sound of a might trumpet blast, and they
shall gather My chosen ones (Jews) from the farthest end of the
earth and heaven." Matthew 24:30-31.
